The liver is a very important organ in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen. It sits below the thoracic diaphragm, and over the stomach and gallbladder. It hold many key functions, necessary for a healthy body - namely the filter for blood coming from the digestive tract, before it permeates the rest of the body.
Sitting
In sitting meditation, gently bring your felt-sense to your liver. Like shining a flashlight, focus the light of attention on the texture inside, and the surrounding tissues.
To feel is to know. Without using thought, use your eyes and felt-sense awareness to look within. Hold awareness for several seconds to minutes as you open to what is there.
Be present, compassionate and nonjudgmental, no matter what arises.
Shaking
In standing meditation, inhale and come up onto your toes. Exhale, come down onto your feet, and begin shaking your whole body (it is recommended for women to wear a sports bra).
Relax any tension, shaking gently and non-violently. Close the eyes to feel more, if balance can be maintained. Again, bring your awareness to your liver, and shake it lovingly away from the surrounding fascia and connective tissue, so that it is free and unbound. Shake out anger, affliction, and the persecutions faced by your ancestors, regenerated down into the creation of your own body. Shake for several minutes, feel and let your liver express itself...
After many minutes of observation and processing, shake in love. Shake in confidence, tenderness, acceptance, and light.
When you are ready to complete the process, come to a stop. Stand and feel your connection to greater life.
